Pigeon Peas Sabzi


Pigeon Peas Sabzi/ Togarikalina Palya
Side Dish

Ingredients :
2 cups Pigeon Peas
1 Onion chopped
1 Tomato
2 Green Chilli chopped
1 - 2 spoon Coconut grated 
1/2 spoon Turmeric powder
1 spoon Masala powder
1/2 spoon Ginger
1 spoon Roasted Chana Dal powder
1 Tomato chopped
1/4 spoon Mustard seeds
1/4 inch Cinnamon stick
2 Cloves
Salt
Oil

Method:
Cook in a pressure cooker pigeon peas on a medium flame for 1 whistle and keep it aside.
Take a vessel, heat 2 spoons of oil on a low flame.
Add mustard, ginger, cinnamon stick, cloves, chopped onion, and green chillies. Saute untill it turns golden brown and add pigeon peas, masala powder and turmeric powder.
Make a paste of coconut, roasted chana dal and tomato in a mixer jar.
Add paste into the vessel and stir well.
Add salt,1/4 cup water and coriander leaves, cook for 5 mins on a medium flame.
Pigeon Peas Sabzi is ready to serve with poori or chapathi.

Popcorn

Popcorn
Evening Snacks

In a microwave safe bowl, add 1/4 cup corn kernels, salt, oil/butter and red chilli powder. Close the bowl with microwave safe lid and cook for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Popcorn is ready.

Note: Some corn kernels may not pop up.

Kesaribath

Kesaribath (Made using Chiroti Rava/Fine Sooji)
Festival Recipe

Ingredients 
1 cup Fine Sooji
3/4 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Ghee
5 Cashewnuts
5 Raisins
2 Cardamom powdered
2 Kesari strands (optional)

Method:
Dry roast fine Sooji in a pan and transfer it to a plate.
In a pan, heat 1/2 cup Ghee, roast cashew and Raisins.
Add 1 1/2 cups water and sugar until sugar dissolves completely.
Add fine Sooji, cardamom powder, kesari and stir continuously and see that lumps are not formed.
Stir until it mixes well.
Kesaribath is ready to serve.

Soak Rajma overnight and pressure cook for 4 - 5 whistles with salt.
Cooked Rajma can be tea time snack also.

Chow Chow Sabji/ Seemebadnekayi Palya

Chayote/Chow Chow Sabzi/Seemebadnekayi Palya 
Side Dish

Ingredients:
2 medium sized Chow Chow peeled and chopped
1 Onion chopped
2 Green Chillies chopped
1 Tomato chopped
1 spoon Coriander leaves chopped
2- 3 spoons Oil
1 spoon Mustard seeds
1 - 2 spoon Chana Dal
1 spoon Masala powder
1 spoon Coconut grated (optional)
1 spoon Roasted Gram powder
Salt

Method:
Peel the skin of Chow chow and cut into small pieces.
Take a pan and heat oil, add mustard seeds, chana dal, onion, green chillies, tomato and saute well.
Add chow chow, masala powder  and cook for 10 mins on a medium flame.
Lastly add 1/2 cup water, salt, coconut, coriander leaves and roasted gram powder , mix well and cook for 5 - 10 mins.
Chow Chow sabzi is ready
Serve it with chapathi or dosa.
